Many thanks to everyone that sponsored us for the 2009 London to Brighton Bike Ride.

Having left Raunds at 3:30am we arrived at Clapham Common at about 5:00am. We made our way to the start line and got underway at 6:15 and we made it to Brighton in 3 hours 48 minutes – faster than last year.

All in all, we had a fantastic day. The weather was perfect – not too hot and not too cold but most importantly it remained DRY!

Thankfully, our ride was also incident free as far as the bikes were concerned – no mechanical problems and no punctures.

We did have one small moment when Jason fell off of his bike after colliding with a woman whilst climbing a very steep hill. She suddenly decided to stop abruptly in front of him to gossip with her friend and he had nowhere to go. I didn’t realise that Jason knew so many swear words! He was not best pleased to say the least. Luckily, however, it was a very slow speed accident and he was completely unharmed (apart from a slightly bruised ego perhaps). A small amount of straigtening of his brake lever, a quick tighten of his shoe clip and we were off again.

Chris had complained of feeling unwell in the week befiore the ride and was even uncertain about whether he would ride at all. Well, he needn’t have worried! We finally caught up with him at mile 35 after he did a great impression of Lance Armstrong from the start and disappeared into the distance. Having caught back up with him, however, we all stayed together for the rest of the ride and crossed the finishing line three abreast all together – Go team Ovenators – Go team Skoda!

I have posted some photos for your entertainment!
